Venjaramoodu (Kerala), Aug 31: Three people have been arrested by the police in connection with the murder of two CPI (M) workers. The police also seized a bike from their possession bearing the registration number KL 21K 4201.

Earlier on Sunday, August 30, Vembayam native Mithilaj (32) and Haq Muhammad (25) were slaughtered to death in Venjaramoodu while they were travelling on a bike at Thempammoodu area.

Haq Muhammad, one of the men who was killed, was on the way to drop off Mithilaj at his residence. However, the duo was attacked on the way and hacked to death. It is believed that murder was planned by at least five people.

One of the other men, Shahin who had accompanied the two CPI (M) workers, managed to escape with minor injuries.

The CPI (M) has accused the Congress party of orchestrating the murder and blamed the murder to be out of political revenge. Meanwhile, the police officials have also maintained that the murder was carried out by Congress activists.

Sources claim that political conflict has been prevailing between the two parties in this region for some time now. The accused in this attack were also responsible for a similar crime that was reported back in May.

As per the police investigations, one of the accused arrested is the owner of the bike that has been seized. Further, it was found that the guilty men arrived on two bikes to commit the crime.

DYFI state secretary A A Raheem has called it a well-planned murder and accused the Congress of being aware of the murder.
