Bengaluru, Aug 30: JD(S) leader and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday August 30 urged the BJP-led state government to take scheduled castes and scheduled tribes into confidence while implementing internal reservation within the quota for SC/ST communities.
In a series of tweets, Kumaraswamy said, "Internal reservation is based on the constitutional policy of equality and equal living for all. The state government has to take scheduled castes and tribes into confidence before implementing the same.
He further said, "The intention of the Supreme Court that all castes, which are ignored by the society should get the benefit of reservation is in favour of internal reservation. Implementing the same becomes the social justice duty."
Kumaraswamy questioned the BJP and tweeted, "Why is not the union BJP government, which has implemented 10% reservation to poor people in the upper castes of the society, bringing internal reservation to people who are deprived of opportunities belonging to scheduled castes and backward communities?"
"PM Modi, who himself is from the backward community, should uphold the principle of 'equal life, equal share' by implementing social justice. Among the oppressed classes even now there is a situation where touchables do not allow untouchables near them," explained Kumaraswamy.
"The state government should make it stand clear with regards to the implementation of internal reservation among the scheduled castes. It should give up eyewash policies in this context at least now," tweeted the former CM.
