Mangaluru: Magisterial inquiry into firing incident - Final hearing on September 1

Mangaluru, Aug 29: As part of the magisterial inquiry ordered into the firing in the city, final hearing will be conducted on September 1.

During the protest against Citizens Amendment Act held within the limits of the city police commissionerate here on December 19 last year, the police had fired at the protesters to stop the situation from going out of hand. Two protesters Nausheen and Jaleel Kudroli, had died in the firing. Later, the government had ordered a magisterial inquiry and appointed Udupi deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha, as the presiding officer for the inquiry.

A release from the inquiry officer, G Jagadeesha, said that a final opportunity has been given to people who were either eyewitnesses to the incident or having information about it to appear at the court hall of the assistant commissioner Mangaluru located in the mini Vidhana Soudha between 11 am and 1 pm on September 1 and record their evidences or statements. Thereafter, no evidence or statements would be entertained, the release added.

    What will be the outcome ! a big ZERO ! then close the inquiry and save the money of TAX PAYER ! Govt can control the mob or any untoward incidents at it deems. Similarly when the grievance from public that too considered by the current ruling govt but in peaceful way.

    What ever protests you do stopping people from traveling on roads, blocking traffics, obstructing people reach homes or work is not nice. I still remember how students suffered because if this protest all buses were cancelled some rerouted students found it difficult to go home and we're running on streets because of the stone pelting. You chose to throw stones at State Bank where 1000s gather and then you talk about humanity.

    such inquiries should not demoralize the efforts our efficient police force, they should be rewarded for taking the situation under control without much casualties and property damage ....

    Jagadeesha Sir,
    Why this hearings and sittings? You know the rioters were shot at and two died. That incident obviously brought the whole situation under control. Otherwise Mangalore would have become a battlefield.
    So just appreciate SP Harsha and recommend for a medal and promotion.

    IF YOU HAD LOST YOUR RELATIVE WITH POLICE BULLETS ON THEIR CHEST, YOU WOULD HAVE BETTER UNDERSTOOD THE PAIN OF LOOSING YOUR NEAR ONES. HOW CAN POLICE FIRE ON CHEST AT FIRST INSTANCE ONLY WITHOUT FIRING BELOW KNEE LEVEL...? HOW MANY INJURED BELOW KNEE LEVEL...? THERE MUST BE PROPER HANDLING OF LAW BEFORE YOU FIRE SHANKAR.

    I will never go on rioting when we have just justice system.
    and when a mob starts attacking police force, there is no time to aim at knee level or heart level. Just fire to disperse the violent mob.
