Kasargod, Aug 28: The district administration here has finally decided to follow the orders of the Kerala High Court. “People travelling to Karnataka on essential work via Talapady national highway, Jalsoor, Perla and Manimoole will not be required to undergo an Antigen test anymore. However, daily travellers will have to undergo the test,” said deputy commissioner Dr D Sajith Babu. Even the roads were opened for travel on the high court's orders.

“People travelling to hospitals, for business or other critical needs via Talapady and returning on the same day do not need Antigen tests. Meanwhile, daily travellers will be required to undergo the tests once in 21 days and register themselves on the Covid-19 vigilance portal,” said the deputy commissioner.

The decision has been taken on directions from the district in-charge minister E Chandrashekaran in an emergency meeting of the deputy commissioner, DSP and other officials.

The Kerala Government influenced District Authorities are imposing restrictions which are truly uncalled for, even after clear directions from the Central Government regarding inter-state movements. It is high time for the people to decide on the step-mother treatment imposed on the people of Kasaragod District, the majority of whom depend on Mangaluru for their daily business/employment/social & family interaction including obtaining necessary health services. Nevertheless, all the voices have gone down in poor tone and the politicians are making a mockery of the rights of the public!
