Mangaluru: Several unauthorised petty shops evicted from roadside at Kavoor

Mangaluru, Aug 24: The city corporation officials here, with the support of policemen, evicted about 15 to 20 petty shops which were functioning by the roadside at Kavoor in the city illegally without any permission.

Police personnel of Kavoor station here provided protection during the operation. The eviction drive, it is gathered, is part of the ongoing effort to clear the roadsides that are occupied by illegal shops, which have been creating problems for the citizens and vehicle users.

One of the women who lost her petty shop in the drive, tried to stop the demolition. She engaged Praveen, a city corporation official, under whose supervision the eviction was taking place, in an argument. The official clarified to her that the drive was undertaken as per the instructions of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) commissioner and asked her to take up her grievances if any with the commissioner.

The petty shop owners have announced to hold a protest at 9.30 am at Kavoor junction on Monday.

    Petty shops or big buildings,all that is illegal should be demolished,and not allowed to come up in the first place.They destroy the business of legal shop owners,put a strain on the already weak infrastructure,breed corruption by paying bribes and encourage more illegal activities.The drive should be carried out all over the city.

    What a sad state of affairs?

    Since how many years are they here? Couldn’t the officials wait till the pandemic situation is over and people are financially stable? People are suffering with job losses, white collar employees are out on streets to earn for their families, just imagine the condition on these poor road side sellers.

    Ask for jobs and you are asked to make pakodas. Where should they sell their pakodas? Question the government and you are called anti national.

    I think these roadside vendors should call a press conference and inform thr government that certain percentage of this profit will be donated to construction of religious buildings only then they will be allowed to continue.

    More than 3 million CoVid cases, more than 5 million job losses and the big boss is doing PR shoot dancing with the peacock.

    Now his supporters will pile up to defend their boss, and call names to congress leaders and achievements. I honestly don’t care. To hell with all the people who support modi, his crony friends and all politicians like him across all party lines.

    Why worry about our fisherman and their petty shop you can go to Nithyananda's established Kailasa Country, anyway you said you want to settle in Kailasa after retirement beside he too need someone like you.

    Why only demolish Petty shops always when there Corporation realises the encroachment ,what about illegal Buildings which acquire foothpaths and roads ,convert it into the parking area ,what about the illegal commercial centres not touched that too at the time of road widening inside City .City Corporation and Its Official are like Uttara Kumarana Paurushaa.. JCB capable of demolishing Petty shops not Illlegal buidings ,Commercial Centres , Public Stunt ....

    First of all i would hold responsible the city corporation and the elected corporaters of their respecitive wards the reason is

    most of the shop owners have to pay rent tradelicense fees waste tax also generate employment etc etc then the usual income tax/service tax/professional tax and on and on.

    these hawkers come with a basket next day they have a trolly third day a temporary stracture and the items sold are priced higher then the shop owners .

    when we owners of various shops and establisment have to pay heavy from our pocket what do these hawker have to pay their dealing is in cash and not accounted for .

    I strongly request the city corporation and the elected corporaters of their respective wards to dismantle all these hawkers who are increasing day by day on the footpaths and side of city roads and highways it is a concern for shopowners and establishment who invest heavily in running a business if possible provide them a single place in the city or ouskits so they can do thier business legally like other countries

    Please remeber Mangalore is a smart city and smart city requires smart people with smart decisions

    When they started no one objected them and let them continue with it and they believed it which as their permanent source of income. One fine day the same authorities allowed them to do the business but now realized it that its not be allowed or illegal or other technical reasons. like our PM thinking PAKODE near the ZEE NEWS building which is create employment though they earn 200 RS per day SAAB CHANGASEEE AUY BAAKI MANGASEE

    Technical whoever allow them to do the business they should provide the employment or alternative place to earn their daily bread. They cant do that as they are also legal right to earn the revenue as an Indian citizen. Period
