Bengaluru, Aug 18: Leader of the opposition Siddaramaiah, rose to power and became chief minister with the support of 'Ahinda' movement. Now he appears to have stepped back," criticised BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Kateel visited D J Halli, K G Halli and the residence of MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy, which witnessed violent disturbances recently, on Monday August 17. In the attack by protesters, two police stations have suffered damages, and the home of the legislator has been thoroughly damaged.
Kateel wanted to know what is preventing Siddaramaiah, who became the chief minister by instituting the 'Ahinda' movement, from visiting the spots of disturbances and taking stock of the situation. "Siddaramaiah became chief minister in the name of Ahinda, and then pushed leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Parameshwar down. Now he is relegating Akhanda Srinivas to the backside," he stated.
On Monday evening, a delegation comprising state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel, and minister S T Somashekhar, apart from the political secretary to the chief minister, S R Vishwanath, inspected the house of MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy, which has suffered heavy damage. Seeing the torched vehicles and things which lay scattered, the delegation expressed shock and said that the scene was terrifying.
The delegation went to DJ Halli police station. Kateel said that attacking police station is an act of sedition and demanded that those who participated in the incidents should be deprived of government facilities. He also asked that a vigil be kept on people who are getting water and power connection without government permission and those involved in such things are traitors.
