Mangalore: Tulu Telefilm, ‘Sahana, Namma Oorda Ponnu’ Launched

Mangalore, Mar 20: A Tulu telefilm, based on the issue of the importance of religious harmony in one’s life, titled, ‘Sahana, Namma Oorda Ponnu’, was launched at the Town Hall here on Friday March 19. This telefilm has been produced by Vincent Fernandes. Ismail Moodushedde is its director.
Fr Nelson, Carmelite of the Infant Jesus Church here, participated as the chief guest of the launching event, where the telefilm was screened. “People belonging to various castes and religions live harmoniously in our beautiful city. I heartily appreciate the achievement of the director of the telefilm in shooting it within a period of 19 days,” he said. Fr Nelson also congratulated the makers of the telefilm for taking up the subject of social and religious harmony and aiming at bringing the people belonging to different sects and religions together, which he wished, will go a long way in stopping incidents of communal violence from occurring.
Rajesh Haleangady has worked behind the camera for the telefilm. Actress Chaitra has ably donned the lead character of the telefilm, Sahana. It was shot in places like Jeppu St Antony’s Ashram, Pavaje temple, Infant Jesus Church, Punaroor temple, Vamanjoor, Mukka, Pachchanady, Moodushedde etc. It has two songs.
At the end of the launching programme, Sumathi Bai, Dolla and Ismail Moodushedde, who are associated with the film, were honoured.
Ismail Moodushedde welcomed. Mohammed Baddur delivered the introductory address. Former state president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Haririshna Punaroor, presided over the function. Assistant director, Winnie Fernandes, who also is an actress and costume designer, proposed vote of thanks.
B A Moideen, Dolphy Lobo, Vijaykumar Shetty, Moideen Bawa and Fr Joseph Cardoza were present.
