Mangaluru, Jul 30: MLA U T Khader has demanded the government to give the reason behind transfer of deputy commissioner (DC) Sindhu B Rupesh before completing a year in the district.
Addressing the media here on Thursday July 30, U T Khader said, "Dakshina Kannada had two DCs in the span of one year. The district in-charge minister claims that it was a routine transfer, but there is no rule to change the DC in six months. The deputy commissioner should serve at least for a year or two. The government should reveal the reason behind the transfer. If a place like Dakshina Kannada has two DCs in the span of one year, how will the district move forward?"
He also said, "When the DC received threats, no BJP MLAs, MPs or district in-charge minister has condemned the same. Police strived hard to arrest the accused and have done their duty but why are BJP leaders taking the credit for it? BJP leaders have not come up with a single statement which can give confidence to officials. During our administration, DCs were not transferred every six months nor has an IAS officer resigned."
Khader said that the government and district administration should look into providing more ventilators and oxygen beds. The district lacks ventilators and oxygen beds, while in some hospitals all the available ones are occupied. He suggested that instead of reserving 50 percent of beds for Covid patients, it would be better to convert these beds to oxygen beds.
When asked about Rafale fighter jets coming to India, Khader said, "Rafale agreement was done by the Congress for Rs 600 crore which was raised to Rs 1,666 crores. The responsibility was cancelled from HAL and given to Anil Ambani who has not produced even a plastic toy plane.”
Former MLC Ivan D'Souza, former mayor Kavitha Sanil, former MLA J R Lobo, A C Vinayaraj and others were present.
