Mangaluru, Jul 30: Common Entrance Test (CET), which can be decisive in admission into professional courses, is being held from Thursday July 30. Suspense over holding of the CET on account of efforts made to postpone the same through the high court citing corona situation has blown over, as the high court has refused to stay the test.
Students were seen busy studying and making last minute preparations outside their respective exam centres in Mangaluru.
The test is being conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority in 499 examination centres located in 127 centres all over Karnataka. As many as 1.94 lac students have registered themselves for the test.
On Thursday, biology examination is being held between 10.30 am and 11.50 am and the Maths test will be conducted from 2.30 pm to 3.50 pm. Physics examination will be conducted from 10.30 am to 11.50 am and chemistry exam is scheduled between 2.30 pm and 3.50 pm on Friday.
On Saturday August 1, a compulsory Kannada language exam for students from the border areas and other states will be held between 11.30 am and 12.30 pm. These students need not visit Bengaluru for the examination. They have been allowed to appear for the examination at Ballari, Belagavi, Bengaluru, Mangaluru and Bidar, which are located near the state's border.
COVID positive students are allowed to appear for the examination, and they will be provided with separate rooms. Students from foreign countries or outside the states who are appearing for the CET as well as the parents accompanying them have been given four days exemption from quarantine conditions.
CET exams underway in Udupi
Common Entrance Test (CET) exams started from Thursday July 30 in Udupi. In the district, 3,915 students have registered themselves to write these exams in 10 examination centres.
All students are being checked for symptoms of Covid-19 infection and allowed inside the examination centres. There is heavy police presence near the examination centres. Both students and lecturers are scanned through thermal scanner before allowing them inside the centres.
Opportunity is also being provided for students having Covid-19 infections, to write the examinations in separate centres marked for the purpose. Asha workers and Scouts and Guides are helping the authorities in conducting the health check-up of students and lecturers.
Out of the total 10 examinations centres in the district, Udupi has five, Karkala has two and Kundapur has three. Separate arrangements are also done for students having cold, cough, fever and running nose to take the examinations.
