Kundapur, Jul 25: Police personnel of Amasebail police station in the taluk found out that 17 buffaloes were being illegally transported in a container. They were loaded in such a way that the animals were suffering. The accused have been taken into custody.
At 5 am on Saturday July 25, the police were checking vehicles at Hosangady check post. The police stopped a container vehicle bearing registration number KA 17 D 6471 that was approaching the check post from the direction of Hulikal ghat. During the verification, it was found that three buffaloes, 13 she-buffaloes and a bull were loaded in the vehicle in a way that caused the animals lot of inconvenience and torture.
The animals were being taken to Mangaluru from Haveri. There was no permission for the transportation of the animals. As it was found that the cattle were being taken for the purpose of slaughtering, the vehicle was taken into possession. Two people were arrested and a complaint was filed against two others Haneef and Jaffer.
Amasebail police sub-inspector Anil Kumar, led the team which conducted the checks. A case has been registered at Amasebail police station relating to the incident.
