Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 24: Dakshina Kannada on Friday July 24 recorded 180 fresh cases and eight deaths. With this, the death toll crosses the 100-mark in the district. Meanwhile, Udupi registered 190 new cases taking the total number of cases over 3,000.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 31,909 samples have been tested so far. As many as 27,515 have turned out negative, and 4,394 are positive till date. Out of these, 2,300 cases are currently active. As many as 1,987 persons have recovered and been discharged, and 107 deaths have occurred so far, including eight on Friday.
As many as 125 patients were discharged on Friday from Wenlock as well as private hospitals.
Of the 180 who tested positive on Friday, 56 are primary contacts, 68 have ILI symptoms, 10 have SARI symptoms, one has international and contacts of 45 are being traced.
Among the eight deaths that occurred on Friday, the first one is of a 44-year-old male from Mangaluru. He was admitted to private hospital on July 19, and breathed his last on July 22. He was suffering from respiratory failure, ARDS and AKI MODS hypertension. The second is a 56-year-old male from Bhatkal. He was admitted to a private hospital on July 18, and passed away July 23. He suffered from urinary tract infection, MODS septic shock, Type II DM, hypothyroidism, systematic hypertension and IHD. The third is a 67-year-old male from Bhadravathi. He was admitted to Wenlock hospital on July 13, and passed away on July 23. He suffered from pneumonia and respiratory issues. The fourth is a 42-year-old man from Bantwal. He was admitted to a private hospital on June 20, and passed away on July 23. He suffered from Type II respiratory failure, urosepsis and uncontrolled Type II DM. The fifth is a 67-year-old male from Bhadravathi. He was admitted to a private hospital on July 23, and passed away on same day. He was suffering from acute myrocardial infarction, uncontrolled type II diabetes mellitus and systematic hypertension. The sixth is a 75-year-old femalefrom Mangaluru. She was admitted to private hospital on July 17 and passed away on July 23. She was suffering from COPD with type II respiratory failure, multi-organ dysfunction syndrome with septic shock, type II diabetes mellitus and systematic hypertension. The seventh is a 65-year-old female from Puttur. She was admitted to a private hospital on July 13 and passed away on July 23. She was suffering from blood pressure and diabetes. The eight is a 61-year-old female. She was admitted to a private hospital on July 21 and passed away on July 23. She was suffering from diabetes mellitus and hypertension.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,875 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, and an equal number have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 1,729 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 217 people are in isolation wards, including 38 fresh admissions on Friday. Among the new admissions, three are COVID suspects, 13 have SARI and 22 influenza-like illness.
As many as 1,424 people, including 23 on Friday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 26,783 samples have been collected so far, including 413 on Friday, out of which 49 are COVID suspects and 256 are COVID contacts. Out of the total samples, 23,136 have turned out to be negative, including 265 on Friday, and 611 reports are awaited.
As many as 3,036 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 190 on Friday. As many as 1,929 patients have been discharged so far including 88 on Friday, and 1,096 cases are currently active. Twelve deaths have occurred so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
Among the new cases, 99 are in Udupi, 50 in Kundapur, and 41 in Karkala. They include 112 men and 78 women, and five boys and nine girls. Among them, 56 have ILI symptoms and one has SARI symptoms. As many as 499 are under home isolation.
