Bengaluru, Jul 24: Sources in the education department said that on the model of CBSE, the syllabus of students from Class 1 to 10 in the state will also be reduced by 30 per cent and the order in this connection would be issued in about a week.
As per the suggestions made by a committee of experts, lessons that have been repeated have been deleted and the revision details have been provided to the education department by Karnataka Textbook Society. The lessons have been pruned in such a way that the students learn a thing only once during their 10 years of learning. The department will officially announce the lessons that have been pruned down, sources stated.
Schools which were to begin this academic year in June have not yet been functional because of coronavirus spread. Two months have already been lost, and it does not look like they will start for two more months. Therefore, 30 per cent cut has been affected, said managing director of Textbook Society, Madegowda. He said that the report prepared by experts has been sent to the commissioner in the department and the government will take a final call on the issue.
The sources in the department also said that discussions need to be held with the secondary school examination board which holds SSLC examination and the two have to coordinate Those lessons where main questions are raised, and subjects which have to be compulsorily learnt would be retained and the remaining syllabus will be cut down, they added.
