Kundapur: Four arrested for transporting buffaloes in inhumane manner

Kundapur, Jul 24: Kota police station personnel arrested four people, including the driver of the truck that was transporting 59 buffaloes in an inhuman manner.

The police seized the truck and arrested the people on Friday, July 24 at Saibarakatte check post during routine check-up of vehicles. The buffaloes were being transported from Haryana to Kerala.

The truck arrived to the check post at around 3 am when probationary SP Santhosh of Kota police station was on duty of checking the vehicles. When the cops checked the vehicle, they were surprised to find 59 buffaloes stuffed in an inhuman manner.

The value of animals rescued in the incident has been estimated at Rs two lac. The arrested accused are Jabbar (35), Jomun (36), and Shamshuddin (34), all from Kerala, and Mukheem (18) from Haryana. In a case registered in Kota police station, owner of the buffaloes, Abdul Aziz from Kerala and owner of the container, Rafiq from Mysuru, have also been named as accused.

The rescued buffaloes were shifted to Nilavar Goshala. The case is this regard was registered by Ananta Padmanabha, circle inspector of Brahmavar and Kota station officer Santhosh B.

    Buffalo meat is tasty ..
    But I would NEVER kill a harmless animal for such meat even if its tasty ..
    I wonder why humans are so inhuman ..despite having ample food options ..just because its not forbidden by some book ..maybe there is no explicit mention of this ..but I am sure any religion is against causing pain to all ,including animals which have a nervous system that feels pain.
    I doubt many do not understand the meaning of real halal. To kill animal it has to agree to be killed .its supreme sacrifice by the animal.
    Humans can resort to eat animals only if there is no other forms of food in and around the place you live. We can understand ..in the desert its difficult to find food so it might be acceptable there ...but why in India ? This is the problem of importing religious thoughts from outside ..you already live in a green country which already has a developed religion in tune with the geography ..but you want to import and follow a religion which is built for desert which is meaningful there.
    Please give it a deeper thought ..I am not against any religion ,..every religion teaches about peace and harmony ..but we humans twist it it according to our own selfish needs and political control

    Unless the Union Government bans slaughter totally, these types of crimes happen. All milch animals are butchered resulting in malnourishment of the nation. Government must legislate laws to impound all movable and immovable assets of those involved in these types of crimes

    Truly transporting buffaloes in this inhuman manner is wrong and that is the reason govt does not allow. I have seen in foreign countries, they have special trucks to transport buffaloes and cows in legal and humane manner. However, scale of economics does not permit to transport the animals in such a humane manner in India, since the diesel price is high. As there are enough abattoirs in Haryana that cater to export, it would have been a better idea. However, Kerala merchants pay much more than what Haryana abattoirs pay for buffaloes. Hence, it is a vicious circle.

    From goshala may be these buffaloes can reach any beef products exporting factories run by sanghi politicians. Nobody will cross check what happens to that animals after they reach there. Police department must look into the aspect of how the poor carona affected people get treated in public hospitals instead of going behind protecting somebody s foolish blind believes.

    Just arresting these people is not enough but also stuff all the four guys in one room measuring 5ft x 5ft for a week at least and let them also experience the pain and suffering of these mute animals. Can't imagine how these animals survived the journey all the way from Haryana to Karnataka only standing in the crammed container without food and water.
    Today world is suffering with floods, famine, fire and pandemics mainly due to human selfish behavior and greed. Here is what Father of our nation the noble soul Mahatma Gandhiji said ""Greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."" and the answer is on record now...........May God help His creation...!!
