Udupi, Jul 23: 'The Top', a 2:59 minutes short film has made its way to the top 20 list of 'Lockdown Film Festival' organized by Carrot films. 'The Top' is directed by Deepak Raj and is produced under Millet Hill Pichchars. The Lockdown Film Festival organized by Carrot films had more than 300 entries from all over India. 'The Top' is the only Kannada film to make it to the list of top 20. The films were given a time frame of 3 minutes and a theme on 'Perspective'.
The Top was edited by Shreekara Bhat, the camera was handled by Dhanush Raj and music by Prajoth D'Sa. Praveen Kumar Jappinamogaru handled the script supervision. Deepak Raj and Shilpa Sharath acted in the film.
The jury members of Lockdown Film Festival included many veteran actors and associates of the film industry like veteran actors Sharmila Tagore and Ratna Pathak Shah, along with ad guru Prahlad Kakkar, director Ken Ghosh, actor Adil Hussain, TV stars Gautam Rode and Hiten Tejwani, TV producer Nivedita Basu, cinematographer Modhura Palit, Ida Ali and theatre personality Iqbal Niyazi.
The short film deals with the relationship between husband and wife who stay afar. The conversations take place on a video call and display the fragility in the couple's relationship.
The entire movie is filmed in a single shot on a mobile phone and with zero budget. The film festival also had a clause of shooting short films without stepping outside one's house and adhere to the lockdown regulations strictly.
