Bengaluru, Jul 23: A complaint filed in the high court against MP Shobha Karandlaje, actor Darshan, and several others, accused them of violating COVID-19 guidelines.
The complainant said that actor Darshan had breached the COVID guidelines issued by the central government during his visit to Goddess Chamundeshwari temple at Mysuru. Excise minister Nagesh, MP Shobha Karandlaje, MLA M K Somashekhar, and some other political leaders have also been accused of transgressing the guidelines and thereby causing the coronavirus infection to spread.

Therefore, the petitioner Geeta Mishra, an advocate by profession, has requested the high court to take action against the above persons. She claimed that these persons who are considered as leaders in their fields had neither worn the masks nor maintained social distance during their visit to the above temple. She said that the excise minister Nagesh, not only inaugurated the showroom of his party workers and partied with them, but also failed to wear a mask and maintain social distance there as per standard operating procedure (SOP).
The government has made it mandatory to follow corona SOP but the leaders who frame the laws are themselves found flouting the rules. This gives the impression that rules are different for the common people and influential ones. Therefore, the petitioner has requested the high court to initiate steps against the persons named in the petition as per the Disaster Management Act and Infectious Diseases Act.
