Moodbidri: Wenlock staff nurse tests positive, complains against social inequality

Daijiworld Media Network - Moodbidri (SP)

Moodbidri, Jul 23: A lady who was serving coronavirus patients at the district Wenlock Hospital and her seven-year-old son have tested positive for coronavirus infection. Their house has been sealed down. Soon, some miscreants started to spread unsubstantiated rumours and malicious propaganda about the family. The family has now complained to the deputy commissioner of the district, alleging social inequality.

The lady had functioned in the frontline in the war against coronavirus. Now, a few mischief mongers from her area have been torturing her mentally through complaints to government officials, it is said. In her letter, the lady said that having been fed up by the attitude of these people, she has been considering the desirability of resigning from her job.

She stated that she has been strictly following all the norms relating to her COVID positive state but said she is distressed with the false allegations made in anonymous complaints sent against her. "I have served the people by treating my work as worship. Anti-social elements have been torturing me now. I am very much hurt," the lady said in her complaint.

The lady's husband and a four-year-old child have tested negative. None of the family members have exhibited any symptoms of the disease so far.

Coronovirus has spread all over the world. It is not HIV positive. It is a virus anyone can get. Frontliners are doctors and nurses. We do need to morally supoort everyone who is working in public / private health dept. Many nurses and doctors are affected and its a stressful job for them as they have to leave the family not knowing what is going to happen when they return.

The people who spread rumours must be forgetting that they need the facility God forbid if they had to visit the hospital for themselves or one of their family.

I hope Gov't brings stricter regulations and policies against the people who are anti social.

Hats off to your commitment towards fighting COVID-19, and serving the patients. You have done your duty nothing wrong. The people who have been torturing you have to put up in bars and strict action to be taken.

Really a case need to be addressed.

Hospital administration should NOT tell their staff at present situation :

-- "Attend to Duty. It is not our responsibility that how you are coming/going"
-- "Do your work. If suitable PPE kits etc are not provided, it is not our responsibility"

Staff also should work in a transparent manner that if infected keep informed to their neighbours so that they can also take precautions.

Heard that one staff of the same hospital called Ambulance at midnight and got admitted to COVID ward keeping others in the same building in dark. That staff don't want their tenant to runaway from the building.

Government has to strictly punish all those anti social elements with wide publicity so that no one dare to do such anti social acts. This is too much.
Doctors & Nurses needs to be protected.

Sometimes when thieves and terrorists are given police protection, now this lady and family should be given police protection because we never know our people. She has risked her and families lives by working in a hospital during the pandemic.
