Mangaluru, Jul 21: Geetha (27), wife of a coolie named Anand from Darkhasu, Nelyady, had visited the Nelyady hospital with her elder sister on Saturday morning. She was suffering from some fever and was worried about the decreased movement of her baby inside the womb. From Nelyady hospital she was sent to Kokkada government hospital. As the doctors were not available there, she was sent by an ambulance to Lady Goschen Hospital here. She moved between Lady Goschen and Wenlock Hospitals and spent time waiting on the floor of Wenlock Hospital till 12.30 am but she had not been able to get treatment. Thereafter, her family members had hired a vehicle from Nelyady to bring her back from Mangaluru.
Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary on Monday July 20 instructed the deputy commissioner (DC) of the district to investigate the incident. He had also asked her to make arrangements to see that the lady gets treatment immediately.
Kadaba tahsildar John Prakash Rodrigues, visited the house of the distressed woman and gathered information from her. She underwent health check and scanning at the government hospital, Puttur, on Monday. Her fever has subsided and she is in good health. Necessary medical help has been extended, and a report in this regard would be sent to the deputy commissioner, he said.
A high level committee guided by the deputy commissioner has already begun investigation into the incident as per the orders of the district in-charge minister. District health officer, Dr Ratnakar, said that the family members of the woman have been asked to be present before the investigation team to record statements on July 21.
