Beltangady, Jul 20: When three cows and two calves were being transported in a pick-up vehicle in a violent manner, Bajrang Dal workers intercepted the vehicle and handed the animals over to the Beltangady police. The incident happened at about 3 am on Monday July 20.
It is gathered that the cattle were being transported from a house in Surya Padpu. Accused of cattle trafficking, Rajesh and his accomplices, fled by making use of an escort vehicle that was accompanying the pick-up vehicle.
At the same time, the Bajrang Dal team came to know that another gang connected with the cattle traffickers was transporting cows along with escort vehicle to the slaughterhouse. When the Bajrang Dal workers went near Guruvayanakere to nab the traffickers, the thieves escaped by attacking two Bajrang Dal workers, it is learnt.
The Bajrang Dal workers who came under attack have been admitted into a hospital. A COVID-19 pass issued in the name of P K Chicken Centre, Kankanady, Mangaluru, was recovered from the pick-up vehicle.
