'Refrain from creating or forwarding fake videos on hospitals': Bengaluru police

Bengaluru, Jul 19 (IANS): Concerned over the abuses on social media during COVID times, the Bengaluru police on Sunday warned the public against believing fake videos in circulation over 'conditions' in some city hospitals.

"A case has been registered in the city cyber crime police station against the fake videos circulating in the social media on the 'conditions' in some Bengaluru hospitals," a police official said here.

Cautioning the people, the police advised them to refrain from creating or forwarding such videos and messages, which have the potential to create panic in society.

"The citizens should tip-off the police about such false videos than circulating or forwarding them in the social media, as the government, society and frontline warriors are fighting the pandemic.

In a related development, a dedicated control room has been set up for reporting on any COVID case by the police personnel and their families.

"Police personnel infected by the coronavirus should call the control room for an ambulance to rush the COVID-affected to the nearest hospital for treatment across the city," said the official.

The state home department opened the 24x7 control room in the city police commissioner office after a whopping 756 police personnel tested positive to the dreaded disease, which claimed lives of 7 policemen since March 9.

"Police personnel or their family members can call the control room for sending an ambulance to rush the affected person to the nearest hospital for treatment," added the official.

According to Additional City Police Commissioner Hemant Nimbalkar, 256 police personnel were under treatment in designated hospitals across the city while 493 were discharged.

City police commissioner Bhaskar Rao went into home quarantine on Friday after his vehicle driver tested positive for the virus.

"Rao will undergo a Covid test on Monday, which will be 5th for him since April," the official added.

Of the 4,537 new cases reported on Saturday in the state, Bengaluru accounted for 2,125, taking its COVID tally to 29,621, including 22,449 active after 6,540 were discharged so far, with 250 in the last 24 hours, while 631 succumbed to the virus, with 49 since Friday.

some time back there was fake news that India will be the largest producer of covid vaccine...(Serum Institute "reported" to be in partnership with Oxford University for this vaccine research)... Now it is known that Oxford University had nothing to do with private family owned company Serum Institute...

There was one more where "India's vaccine for Covid" would be ready by Aug 15, this turned out to be damp squib, let alone, August 15, whether this will come come out at all...

The scale and initial glee generated by the "great news about India" makes one wonder whether "IT Cell" was planting these goodies in the media as a balm on the unending pains of covid...and to create an illusion/impression that India is also "top runner in science" at par with US, UK, Germany etc.

Police please know you are under watch. Hospitals are under watch. When you do fraud people will take video, people will circulate the videos, news and postings. So to stop this stop the fraud. If you function well, if Hospitals function properly there will not be any wrong information going around. Until then right videos of fraud in the Hospitals, hike in charges , mismanagement will go around. Because it is the patients who have witnessed it are saying it..
