Bengaluru, Jul 19: A month ago, Karnataka was a role model to the country in controlling the coronavirus pandemic, second only to Kerala. However, now the state and especially capital Bengaluru have turned into hotspots of coronavirus pandemic.
According to reports, highly placed sources have indicated that the BJP high command is 'furious' with chief minister Yediyurappa for failing to control the spread of coronavirus pandemic in the state.
It is being said that the failure of the state government coupled with the alleged incapability of Yediyurappa in inspiring the ministers to do their work properly have led to the worsening coronavirus situation in the state.
Earlier, the BJP high command leaders had lauded the leadership of CM Yediyurappa in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic. PM Narendra Modi himself had praised Yediyurappa for controlling the spread of the dreaded disease in the capital city of Bengaluru. However, the situation in Karnataka and Bengaluru in particular has reached a state where the health minister himself has said that 'only God can save the people of Karnataka'. BJP high command is annoyed at this state of affairs in Karnataka, sources said.
In addition, it is learnt that the BJP high command is also not happy with CM Yediyurappa failing to make Karnataka into a model state, losing control over the spread of coronavirus pandemic and primarily, for giving the opposition led by Siddaramaiah a chance to level allegations of corruption and scam in the purchase of hospital equipment. The high command is said to be unhappy with the lack of coordination between ministers in the state cabinet and the infighting. It is also being alleged that Yediyurappa has failed to ensure that decisions taken in meetings were implemented.
There is every possibility that the BJP high command leaders may soon have a discussion with CM Yediyurappa for losing the opportunity of turning Karnataka into a model state in the fight against coronavirus and tarnishing the image of the party amidst allegations of scam.
The BJP high command, in all probability, is expected to give strict instructions to Yediyurappa on controlling the fast-spreading coronavirus pandemic situation, having absolute power on the ministers in his cabinet, directing officials to implement the decisions taken in meetings and more importantly, giving clarification on the charges of corruption by the opposition.
