Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 18: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday July 18 recorded 237 new cases and four deaths. Meanwhile, Udupi reported 109 fresh cases.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 26,368 samples have been sent for tests so far. As many as 23,096 have turned out negative, and 3,311 are positive till date. Out of these, 1,848 cases are currently active. As many as 1,387 persons have recovered and been discharged, and 75 deaths have occurred so far including four on Saturday. Twelve of the deceased out of the 75 are from other districts.
As many as 109 patients were discharged on Saturday from Wenlock as well as private hospitals.
The patients whose deaths were reported on Saturday are a 74-year-old female from Puttur who was also suffering from heart disease and asthma, a male aged 67 who was suffering from pneumonia and was on ventilator, and two females aged 49 and 61 from Mangaluru who suffered cardiac arrest.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,875 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, and a total of 4,875 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 2,197 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 182 people are in isolation wards, including 50 fresh admissions on Saturday. Among the new admissions, one is a coronavirus suspect, 16 have SARI and 33 influenza-like illness.
As many as 1,270 people, including 31 on Saturday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 24,382 samples have been collected so far, including 524 on Saturday, out of which 17 are coronavirus suspects and 317 are COVID contacts. Out of them, 21,757 samples have turned out to be negative, including 292 on Saturday, and 537 reports are awaited.
As many as 2,088 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 109 on Saturday. As many as 1,586 patients have been discharged so far including 43 on Saturday, and 492 cases are currently active. Ten deaths have occurred so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
The 109 cases reported today include 63 men, 39 women and seven children. As many as 58 belong to Udupi taluk, 40 are from Kundapur and 11 from Karkala. Among the 109 cases, one each came from Mangaluru, Dubai and Davanagere, two from Bengaluru, 34 with ILI symptoms, five with SARI symptoms and the rest are primary contacts of earlier positive tested patients.
