Udupi, Jul 18: Dakshina Kannada (DK) district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary spoke to the media on Saturday, July 18 regarding the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases in the district and also in the entire state.
He said that the government took notice of the virus spreading beyond control in the districts. The government was doing its best in containing the virus by creating awareness among the public on wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. "When I met the chief minister and deputy chief minister of Karnataka I told them that there is a need to make a plan for the next two months in order to control COVID-19. All the hospitals in the state are well-equipped and provide all the facilities. They ensure that the government is all set to work for the people proactively," Poojary said.
While answering a question on the rising number of cases in Bengaluru, he said, "COVID-19 virus is rising rapidly in busy or crowded areas like railway station and international airports in Mangaluru and borders. The only way to control coronavirus is by being prepared and also through building awareness in the health department."
He assured that the people need not worry about the situation. Treating the patients on time and continuing to create awareness are crucial in the current situation and that there was no other way apart from taking care of oneself.
He said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is providing support and strengthening the state government.
Speaking on the shortage of ICU, PPE kits, ventilators facility in the state, Poojary said that he has spoken with DCM Ashwathnarayan regarding the matter. He assured to avail required ventilators, ambulances, PPE kits to both Mangaluru and Udupi districts based on the report given by district commissioner.
