Udupi: SSLC student electrocuted when lifting pump out of well

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jul 18: A tenth standard student, Gautham, was electrocuted at sixth cross, Laxmi Nagar, Garde here at around 7.30 pm on Friday July 17.

Gautham was the son of Manjunath Nayak and Shakuntala couple. He was a brilliant student of Milagres Kannada Medium School. The locals said that he would have suffered from electric shocks when lifting pump set out of the well located in the courtyard of his neighbour.

It is said that the boy used to visit his neighbouring house every day for playing. On Friday also, he visited the family of neighbours. He had joined hands with the members of that family to bring the electric pump set that was sunk in their well out, when he experienced electric shocks and lost his life all of a sudden.

Gautham, who had appeared for the SSLC examination recently, was awaiting the result.

    @meo mangalore...
    Dont comment like uneducated.
    Hanging pump is common practice. Not a work of dumb plumber /Electrician.
    While doing any work in Electrical circuits or Electrical equipment should cut off power first.If you isolate power before working no such incident will happen. If you follow this safety measures no such accidents will happen. Think before commenting.
    RIP Gautham...condolences to the family members.
