Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 17: In yet another major spike which is the single-day highest ever in the district, Dakshina Kannada on Friday July 17 recorded 311 cases and eight deaths. Meanwhile, Udupi reported 84 new cases.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 26,242 samples have been sent for tests so far. As many as 23,168 have turned out negative, and 3,074 are positive till date. Out of these, 1,725 cases are currently active. As many as 1,278 persons have recovered and been discharged, and 71 deaths have occurred so far including eight on Friday. Twelve of the deceased out of the 71 are from other districts.
As many as 115 patients were discharged on Friday from Wenlock as well as private hospitals.
The patients whose deaths were reported on Friday are a 72-year-old female and two males aged 56 and 72 from Mangaluru, a 70-year-old male from Sirsi, 69-year-old male from Davanagere, 53-year-old male from Sullia, 68-year-old male from Bhatkal and a male aged 65 from Beltangady.
Public Grievance and Reddressal cells has been established in 12 places to readdress Covid-19 issues in urban local bodies. Mangaluru City Corporation, Bantwal TMC, Beltangady, TMC Moodbidiri, Mulki town panchayat, Puttur CMC, Sullia town panchayat, Ullal CMC, Vitla TP, Kotekar, Someshwara TMC and Kadaba taluk panchayat are the 12 public grievance and reddressal cell.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,875 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, and a total of 4,875 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 2,124 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 163 people are in isolation wards, including 32 fresh admissions on Friday. Among the new admissions, 15 are coronavirus suspects, 12 have SARI and five influenza-like illness.
As many as 1,239 people, including 24 on Friday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 23,858 samples have been collected so far, including 213 on Friday, out of which 153 are COVID contacts. Out of them, 21,465 samples have turned out to be negative, including 309 on Friday, and 414 reports are awaited.
As many as 1,979 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 84 on Friday. As many as 1,543 patients have been discharged so far including 81 on Friday, and 429 cases are currently active. Eight deaths have occurred so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
