Bengaluru, Jul 15: MP and Karnataka state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel, feels that the campaign launched by the Congress demanding accounts from the BJP government is the result of a botched up conspiracy. "Even common people of the country have understood this gimmick. The packages and schemes announced by the central and state governments have been reaching every home and benefiting common people. "Just think what would have happened if Rahul or Priyanka were in Modi's position now," he said.
"Modi's decision on lockdown taken during the last week of March was historic, taking into account the financial implications of even a day's bandh. Modi took up the challenge when even developed nations were buckling, to enforce lockdown and continue to manage the country efficiently even when revenue dried up. This lays bare the potential of our Prime Minister," Nalin said
Further, Nalin said that Modi knows the problem of the people and that he treats every citizen of the country as his family member. To face the adverse effects the lockdown would have had on the economy, the Modi government implemented two special packages. After announcing lockdown on March 24, Modi implemented a special package of Rs 1.7 lac crore for weaker sections of the people under the 'Garib Kalyan' scheme. Under the scheme, about 80 crore Indians were to get five kg of rice or wheat and one kg pulses from April to June. The Prime Minister has been providing free cooking gas to over 8.2 crore BPL families. Schemes were implemented even for other sections of the society where most of the benefits including LPG subsidy gets directly credited to the accounts of the beneficiaries, he explains.
He recalls that when the industries faced extreme hardships due to lockdown, the government decided to sanction Rs 3 lac crore by way of automatic loans devoid of any guarantee. For these loans, the government provides the guarantee, and about 45 lac entities have benefitted from this scheme. Rs 20,000 crore loan was also announced for the rejuvenation of MSME. Rs 50,000 crore fund has been provided to invest in MSME. International tenders for government schemes worth less than Rs 200 crore has been cancelled, the benefit of which go to MSME, he stated.
Many schemes have been implemented to enable farmers to market their products in any part of the country. Modi provided rice, wheat and dal to migrant workers for two months at a cost of Rs 3,500 crore. The workers who have returned to their native places are being given 300 crore man-days of work at an additional expense of Rs 40,000 crore, Nalin reminded. He said that the current government is spending four times more as compared to the previous government under the national employment guarantee scheme. Modi also privatized coal and other ore mining to stop their imports by improving output, he added.
"Even central government offices have been praising chief minister B S Yediyurappa. But Rahul Gandhi and Siddaramaiah, with an eye on securing their political future, have been trying to find fault with everything. People are able to see through their conspiracy. The packages and schemes of our government are benefitting every household. The Congress former chief minister is unable to appreciate the excellent performance of the current government," Nalin maintained.
