Mangalore, Feb 26: “Opposing the new Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) of Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA), the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) will file a public interest litigation in the High Court”, said Vinay Kumar Sorake, former member of parliament.
He was speaking at a protest meet held under the leadership of INTUC in front of the Mangalore Development Authority office, Urwa Store here on Thursday February 25.
Sorake said that the second CDP is against the interests of common people as it will create lot of complications for them. An intense protest will be held, if the authority does not withdraw the proposal”, he warned.
Highlighting the flaws of new CDP, Sorake pointed out that even people having four cents of land will have to set aside two or three cents to road and drainage facilities because of which they won't be able to build their own houses. He alleged that some of the MUDA officials are involved in illegal activities which will be brought to the notice of Lokayukta.
INTUC district president Rakesh Malli, MUDA commissioner P G Ramesh, INTUC state chief secretary Sadashiv Shetty and former mayor Shashidar Hegde among others were present.
