Udupi, Jul 7: The Udupi saree weaving training programme by Kadike Trust for the second batch of five weavers started on Tuesday at Talipady Weavers Society Kinnigoli. Nabard Karnataka funded the programme.
Five rural young women will be trained at Udupi Saree Weaving in this training.
Mamatha Rai, president, Kadike Trust gave details about the training to the trainees and wished them well, she also congratulated the trainees who successfully finished the training on behalf of Kadike Trust. All the five trainees have been appointed at the Talipady Weavers Society.
Trainees who successfully finished the training shared their experiences. Seetha, one of the trainees said even though she had not seen a loom in her lifetime, after the training of two months she is now able to weave clothes.
Trainers, Mohini Shettigar, Sanjeeva Shettigar and Anand Shettigar, president of Talipady society gave valuable tips about weaving to trainees.
"Leave all your worries at home. Pay complete attention and learn with confidence. Also learn by observing others' work, we are ready to teach whatever we know," is the advice given by senior weaver Sanjeevanna.
Chikkappa Shetty, secretary Kadike Trust, Madhava Shettigar, M D, Talipady Weavers Society and Weavers of Society participated in the programme.
