Panaji, Feb 21 (IANS) A Britain-based Non-Resident Indian (NRI) has complained that he was threatened with a gun by two local businessmen at a city five-star hotel over a land deal.

In his complaint to the Panaji police station, Charnesh Kapoor has said that Bhushan Kadam and Atul Kadam threatened him with a revolver in the lobby of the resort after he asked them to return the money he paid for purchasing land for a hospitality project.

Kapoor is the chairman of the Hotel Country India Pvt Limited, which reportedly has investments to the tune of Rs.250 crore in hospitality projects in different parts of the country, according to the complaint filed with the police, a copy of which is available with IANS.

"We have already paid Rs.13.8 crore to the Kadams. They forged the documents and misguided us in the land deal," Kapoor told reporters at the Panaji police station.

"We had come to collect the money from the Kadam brothers, which we had paid to them over the last few years in order to purchase land for the project," he said, adding that the entire financial transaction was conducted through legal channels by following Reserve Bank of India guidelines on foreign direct investment (FDI).

Neither Bhushan Kadam nor Atul Kadam could be contacted immediately for comment.

An official of the Panaji police station told reporters that the complaint had been filed and the Kadam brothers would be summoned to the police station for further enquiries.
