Margao, Feb 17: “Tiatr is an effective medium to spread good social message which will benefit the poor and help to build a well cultured society”, said Chief Minister Digambar Kamat.

He was speaking after inaugurating the new office premises of Tiatr Academy of Goa at a function held at Campal, Panaji on Tuesday February 16.

CM said that opening of an independent office premises for Tiatr Academy is a dream come true for the Tiatr artist, which will benefit them in big way.  He added that the government has extended several facilities to tiatr artists which include establishment of Academy, naming of auditorium after Pai Tiatrist Joao Agustinho Fernandes at Ravindra Bhavan and now the setting up of full-fledged office premises and conference hall.

He urged the artists to create awareness regarding social issues and raise the standard of Tiatre to greater heights. .

Tomazinho Cardozo, president of Tiatr Academy said that Tiatr has completed 118 years and it has initiated some innovative measures to make the medium more effective.
