Udupi, Jun 26: “Form teams under the leadership of SP and Kundapur assistant commissioner to conduct search operations and to take stern actions against those who indulge in illegal sand mining,” said district in-charge secretary Maheshwara Rao.
He was speaking after presiding over a review meeting held on sand issues and COVID-19 situation in district panchayat auditorium on Friday.
He also asked to form teams in all the taluks of the district and deploy police personnel and revenue officials for the purpose. “If a vehicle relating to sand mining is found in CRZ limits, an FIR should be registered against the concerned and the vehicle should be seized,” he said.
“Tahsildar, PDOs, department of geology and other department officials who have the responsibility of preventing illegal sand mining should visit the areas where sand mining is taking place regularly, inspect the areas and be alert,” said deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha.
“Over 63 per cent infected persons in the state are recovering but their percentage in the district is 92 per cent. The positions vacant in the department of health will be filled. FIR is registered against three people who violated quarantine regulations. The health condition of health department staff and police personnel is the priority in the district. Around 2,400 beds are available for COVID-19 treatment. Nine fever clinics are opened. Samples of 13,840 people have been collected and only 116 cases are active at present,” said district nodal officer Dr Prashanth Bhat.
SP Vishnuvardhan, Kundapur zone forest conservator Ashish Reddy, additional deputy commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, Kundapur subdivision officer Raju, tahsildars of all the taluks and various district-level officials were present.
