Bengaluru, Jun 26: The state government has decided to appoint nodal officers in each of the assembly constituencies in Bengaluru for corona control following alarming increase in the infections and COVID 19 cases.
This decision was taken at a meeting convened by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and all ministers hailing from Bengaluru and legislators at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Friday.
The meeting expressed serious concern as the city had as many as 1,207 active corona positive cases till Thursday evening and the incidence was continuously increasing daily, even though the situation in the city was not as serious as in other major metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Delhi or Chennai.
The chief minister said the state government has taken serious note of the situation in Bengaluru and has already identified several private hospitals for treatment of COVID 19 cases and has already issued orders reserving 50 % of the beds in such identified hospitals.
The meeting suggested that steps be taken in each of the assembly constituencies in the city to collect throat fluid samples and conduct examinations to identify the infected persons.
Yediyurappa informed the members that the state government will take steps to make separate arrangements for ambulances to transport dead bodies of those succumbing to COVID 19.
The meeting was informed that separate arrangements are being made to quarantine asymptomatic persons in major kalyanmantaps in the outskirts of the city. Hotels were also being identified for arranging quarantine facilities.
The chief minister directed the officials to monitor the treatment being provided by the private hospitals and also for ensuring protection and safety for COVID 19 warriors.
Earlier, the chief minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new outpatient block at the National Institution of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) and also the e-Manas software online from Vidhana Soudha.
The urban development minister, Byarathi Basavaraj, MPs Tejaswi Surya and P C Mohan as well as NIMHANS director, Dr B N Gangadhar and other officials were present.
