Bengaluru, Jun 26: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar has expressed himself against the government's policy of providing free treatment for only poor COVID-19 patients. He has urged the state government to extend equal treatment free of cost for everyone including poor classes of people, rich persons, officials, and the common people.

Speaking at a press meet organized at the KPCC office on Queens Road here on Thursday, June 25, he recalled that when the Congress government was in power, it had introduced Arogya Karnataka scheme with the aim of ensuring equal health services to everyone. He noted that the central government has introduced the Ayushman Bharat scheme. He termed as unfair the government's initiative to fix treatment rates for corona patients in private hospitals in spite of the existence of the above schemes.

"From where the people who are suffering from financial crisis bring money? The government is playing with their lives," he criticized.
