Panaji, Feb 16: Sesa Football Academy's state of the art infrastructural facility was inaugurated at Sirsaim by chief minister Digambar Kamat here Monday.
The new facility that has a football turf, 30-seater boys hostel, gym, indoor sports hall, audio visual room and sauna has come up at a cost of Rs.40 million.
"The academy is also planning to come up with a spectator stand, a swimming pool and a half-pitch artificial turf. A tie-up with a top professional club in Europe is also in the pipeline," the academy management said in a statement.
For the last two years, Sesa's Senior Academy has been an active participant in the Goa Professional League, besides participating in the second division of the I-League, Governor's Cup and various other tournaments.
Sesa started its junior residential academy in 1999 in its reclaimed mine site at Sanquelim with a ground, gymnasium and a recreation centre with 36 boys. The only residential academy of Goa, it trains these boys for four years besides allowing them to pursue their academics and all for free.
