Raichur, Jun 22: A home guards volunteer from Maski, near here driven by a sense of patriotism, has sought permission to serve the country at its border in the light of trouble fomented by China. He happens to be Laxman Madivala. The uniqueness of the letter lies in the fact that Madivala has written it with his blood.
"My blood is boiling to serve the nation. The cunning Chinese soldiers have murdered our soldiers out of deceit. I have not been able to sleep properly at night since the time our soldiers were martyred. Please allow me to serve with the army posted at the border in order to enable me to take revenge," Laxman pleaded in the letter written in blood.
Earlier in the month, friction arose between the Indian and Chinese soldiers at Galwan valley off Ladakh. Over 20 Indians soldiers died while the army was able to kill 35 Chinese soldiers. This is being dubbed as the biggest friction between the two countries after a gap of five decades.
The two sides had a brush against each other at Nathu La border in 1967. Around 80 Indian soldiers and 300 Chinese men had been killed then. After the said fight, there has been tension all along the border and after the leaders of the two countries held dialogues, the situation has eased.
