Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 22: On the 15th day of the easing of lockdown, 12 new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while 14 fresh cases were detected in Udupi district on Monday June 22.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 46,070 people have been screened so far, including 297 on Monday.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 11,965 samples have been sent for tests till date, out of which 11,485 have turned out negative, and 455 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 187 are currently active. As many as 250 persons have recovered and been discharged, and eight deaths have occurred so far.
As many as 12 patients, all males, were discharged from Wenlock on Monday.
A 70-year-old man and a 56-year-old man are serious and being treated in ICU.
As many as 76 samples were sent for testing on Monday. Reports of 269 samples were received on Monday, out of which 12 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 35 samples are awaited.
Among the 12 corona-positive patients tested on Monday, there are 10 males and two females. Six among them have travelled from Kuwait and two from Qatar, one each from Muscat, Saudi Arabia and Sharjah, and one patient with influenza-like illness symptoms has tested positive.
A total of 22 persons have been admitted for observation.
Altogether, 6,276 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. A total of 29 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) have been reported so far.
Udupi
As many as 14 people including three children tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district on Monday. Among the 14 patients, seven each are male and female. Eight are Maharashtra returnees, four have contracted infection from P-6843, and the source of infection of two more patients is being traced.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,857 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including seven on Monday, and a total of 4,866 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including one on Monday. As many as 729 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 77 people are in isolation wards, including 13 fresh admissions on Monday. Among them, five have SARI and eight influenza-like illness.
As many as 930 people, including 17 on Monday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 13,424 samples have been collected so far, including 12 on Monday, out of which one is COVID contacts and two are COVID suspects. Out of them, 12,135 samples have turned out to be negative, including 53 on Monday, and 212 reports are awaited.
As many as 1,077 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, out of which 967 patients have been discharged so far including two on Monday, and 108 cases are currently active. Two deaths have occurred so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
