Bidar, Jun 22: In a tragic incident which happened at Tripuranth in Basava Kalyan in the district on Saturday, June 20, a youth hanged himself after he feared of having contracted the coronavirus infection.

Ashwin Mhetre (26) was the person who killed himself before his test result was received. He had come in direct contact with a friend who had arrived from Maharashtra. As such, he was quarantined and his throat swab sample was sent to the laboratory for testing. Even before the report was received, he committed suicide as he was fearful that he might have been afflicted by the infection.

After Mhetre killed himself on Saturday morning, his laboratory report came, health department sources confirmed. The report found that Mhetre did not have coronavirus infection.

A report of suicide was registered in the police station.
