Mangaluru: Impoverished woman faces crucial situation - Cop helps her

Mangaluru, Jun 20: Panambur police sub-inspector, Umesh Kumar, gave ample evidence of his humane side when he helped a woman facing crisis in the city by meeting her travel cost.

Vijayalami (59) originally from Chikkamagaluru, worked in a school in north India. On account of the lockdown, she was sent away. She came to Dharmasthala as there was no relative at Chikkamagaluru. From there, she came to Mangaluru and begged with the people at KSRTC bus stand for a job. Some people sent her to Bykampady. There too she failed to find a job. The local people called the police control room after seeing her plight.

On getting information, sub-inspector Umesh and staff met the woman and questioned her. She said that she wants to go back to Dharmasthala as no one is willing to hire her. Sub-inspector Umesh Kumar dropped her off at the KSRTC bus stand and gave her money to meet her travel and other expenses.
