Coronavirus: UAE reports 388 new cases along with 3 new deaths

Dubai, Jun 19: The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Thursday reported 388 new cases of the COVID-19, along with 704 new recoveries and three new deaths. Further, the ministry stated that over 40,000 new COVID-19 tests were conducted in the country.

Earlier, UAE was leading with the most per capita testing in the world. The country was successful in undertaking over 3 million COVID-19 tests in record time. The average daily tests in the UAE has seen an increase from 25,000 to 40,000.

Meanwhile, Dubai lifted movement restrictions on the elderly and children under 12 years of age. Besides, from Thursday, June 18 all age-groups were allowed to visit public spaces like shopping malls and commercial centres while adhering to the existing precautionary measures, including wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing.

However, in other emirates, adults under the age of 70 can enter malls while restrictions on children under 12 still remains applicable, officials clarified.

Dubai's public libraries, private museums and art galleries will also welcome people of all age groups. Home services such as those providing healthcare services to elderly people and people of determination and home beauty services will also be resumed. Elective surgical procedures lasting more than two and a half hours are allowed.
