Udupi, Feb 12: A person, who had been believed to have been dead, and whose funeral had been conducted by his family members, came alive unexpectedly on Thursday February 11.
Geoffrey, a resident of Uppinakote village near Brahmavar in the district, had gone missing about 40 days ago. After a few days of filing a missing complaint with Brahmavar police station, the family members had identified a body recovered from the banks of River Sita at Mabukala village as that of Geoffrey. The policemen had handed over the body to the family after following the prescribed procedures, and after the funeral that was conducted at the Orthodox Syrian Church in Brahmavar, feast and Month’s Mind had been conducted.
On Thursday, some people saw Geoffrey sitting by the side of a stream at Matpady Gudde, about four kms away from Brahmavar. When he was brought home, the family members were elated, and the policemen were confused. Reportedly, Geoffrey’s wife had insisted that the body recovered earlier was not of her husband, but other members of the family had identified it to be of Geoffrey’s.
The policemen are now left with the task of finding out as to who was the mysterious man, whose body was found at the river bank earlier.
