Surge in Goa Covid-19 cases due to increased testing: CM

Panaji, Jun 17 (IANS): Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, here on Wednesday, attributed the surge in Covid-19 cases to increased testing. The number of active cases has reached 560.

"We are doing a lot of testing, especially along the borders and containment zones. Thus, we have more cases," Sawant said

Sawant said most Covid-19 patients in Goa were asymptomatic with steady health parameters. "Most cases are settled. Only eight-ten cases are symptomatic. We have admitted them to Covid hospital and Covid care centres," Sawant said.

According to the Goa Health Ministry protocol, symptomatic patients are admitted to the only designated Covid-19 hospital in the South Goa district, while asymptomatic patients are admitted to Covid Care Centres across the state.
