Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 13: Thirty new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while 14 new cases were detected in Udupi on Saturday June 13. As many as 17 and 139 people who recovered were discharged in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts respectively.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 43,251 people have been screened so far including 178 on Saturday. A total of 10,675 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 10,191 have tested negative, and 271 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 118 are currently active. As many as 146 persons have recovered and been discharged, and seven deaths have occurred so far.
Seventeen patients were discharged from Wenlock on Saturday. They are 14 males and three women include two children.
As many as 258 samples were sent for testing on Saturday. Reports of 196 samples were received on Saturday, out of which 30 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 213 samples are awaited.
In Dakshina Kannada, among the 30 patients, 19 are males and 11 females including 10 children. Six of the women in the infected are pregnant. As many as 25 have come from Saudi Arabia, and the rest of them are Maharashtra returnees.
As many as 29 persons were admitted on Saturday for observation.
A total of 5,625 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Saturday, 28 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported.
Udupi
As many as 14 cases were reported in Udupi on Saturday. The patients are eight males and six females including one child. All 14 are Maharashtra returnees.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,750 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, and a total of 4,853 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including one on Saturday. As many as 466 persons are currently in home quarantine. As many as four high-risk patients are under hospital quarantine.
A total of 75 people are in isolation wards, including 11 fresh admissions on Saturday. Among them, one is a coronavirus suspect, while seven have SARI and three influenza-like illness.
As many as 843 people, including 18 on Saturday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 12,830 samples have been collected so far, including 63 on Saturday. Out of them, 11,734 samples have turned out to be negative, including 29 on Saturday, and 90 reports are awaited. As many as 1,005 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district. As many as 720 patients have been discharged including 139 on Saturday, and 284 cases are active. One death has occurred so far.
