Mangaluru, Jun 12: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has resumed its operations after coronavirus lockdown period ended. On Thursday June 12, it raided several spots in the state simultaneously including the city, Mandya and Bengaluru where the former special land acquisition officer here, Dasegowda, reportedly owns houses.
Residences of Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board's special land acquisition officer here, were raided on Thursday. The officer in question, Dasegowda, had been trapped red-handed by the ACB when accepting bribe of five lac rupees in the city on December 19. It is said that he was receiving commission out of the compensation disbursed for land acquisition.
The ACB, it is learnt, had deferred the operation because of investigation into firing incidents and coronavirus-induced lockdown.
During the raid, the team is said to have come across huge amount of unaccounted property. It is gathered that the officer owns three to four houses including a flat in the city. He also reportedly has 11 sites at various places including Bengaluru. Apart from landed properties, huge cache of gold ornaments was also found.
The officer has been charged with amassing assets illegally. He is under suspension currently for accepting bribe. After his arrest, he had secured bail.
The raid was led by ACB superintendent of police here, Uma Prashanth, deputy superintendent of police Manjunath, and inspector Yogish Naik.
