Panaji: Canacona taluk tests first COVID-19 positive

Panaji, Jun 11: Canacona taluk witnessed its first COVID-19 patient at a remote ward of the Canacona municipality at Tembewada.

Canacona community health officer, Dr Vandana Desai with a team of doctors visited the house of the positive patient and collected throat swab samples of all the members of the joint family consisting of 20 members. His wife and minor son are kept at the community health centre for observation.

The Canacona Municipal Corportation (CMC) chairperson, Nitu Dessai said that the patient worked at KTC and was transporting migrants to the railway station for the past 10-12 days. Tembewada has about 400 residents.

The community health centre at Canacona began distributing immunity boosting homeopathic and ayurvedic medicines to its staff.
