Udupi, Jun 6: Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producer’s Federation donated kits of milk products to more than 2,600 Asha workers who are working on prevention of the spread of coronavirus in the district and Dakshina Kannada districts.
Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP, Shobha Karandlaje set the programme held in Udupi district panchayat auditorium in motion. She commended the work of Asha workers in containing the virus.
Milk Federation president, K Raviraj Hegde said that the federation has provided Rs 35 lac to the cooperative societies, Rs 40 lac worth monetary help to contract workers and Rs 50 lac to the chief minister’s relief fund during the lockdown period. “It is donating milk products worth about Rs 15 lac to Asha workers for their service,” he said.
Various products including Trupti milk that lasts for more than 90 days were distributed to Asha workers.
MLA Raghupati Bhat, district panchayat president, Dinakar Babu, deputy commissioner, G Jagadeesha, district panchayat CEO, Preeti Geylot, milk federation vice president, Prakash Chandra Shetty, director, Smitha Shetty, managing director, Dr G V Hegde and others were present.
