Kasargod, Jun 4: In an incident which happened on the night of Wednesday June 3 in the district, two persons accused of ganja trafficking, who were kept in quarantine, escaped from the spot. The police succeeded in taking them into custody again within hours of the incident.
Out of three persons who were arrested from Kumble on June 2 along with a consignment of six kilograms of ganja, two had slipped out of the quarantine facility. They have been identified as Salman Minhaj (21) and Harshad (23) from Kannur Dharmada. They were quarantined in Poodamkallu taluk hospital.
Of late, the practice of keeping the arrested persons in quarantine after producing them in court till their coronavirus test reports are received, is being followed. Once the report is received, they are sent to prison.
As soon as the police came to know about the fact that the accused had fled, they launched an operation and succeeded in taking both of them into custody from Chullikere.
