Mangalore, Jan 27: Abdul Rashid (30), an advocate by profession, died on Tuesday January 26, due to an accident that occurred at Arkula near here on the night of Monday January 25. Rashid, who was riding his motor bike, rode on the extreme edge of the road while allowing another vehicle to pass, and hit a roadside electric pole.
The critically injured Rashid was shifted to a hospital in the city. Rashid used to work at Madikeri, and was going back to Kallugundi, his native place, on Monday evening, after visiting the city on personal work, when tragedy struck.
Ajit (13), an eighth standard student of Malali government composite high school, died on Tuesday, after a tempo carrying hay hit his bicycle from behind. The bicycle of the boy was crushed, and his head, legs and ears suffered extensive injuries. The accident occurred near the MRPL Pump House at Malali Jodu Tadame. The boy had got the bicycle given free of cost by the government a week back, and he was going to the school from the home of his grandmother located at Mogeru. Ajit was a bright and multi talented student. The driver of the vehicle fled, leaving the vehicle behind.
The Republic celebrations at the boy’s school were cancelled, and the teachers, villagers etc., paid rich tributes to the boy, whose life was taken away at an early age.
