The energy minister is set to resign and take over the party’s mantle on January 30. Obtaining of the party’s national president’s nod for his appointment is the only formality that remains to be completed.
The meeting was presided by present state BJP president, D V Sadanand Gowda, Yeddyurappa, MP Anant Kumar, Eshwarappa, ministers, Jagadish Shettar, Karunakar Reddy, V S Acharya, Ashok, Katta Subrahmanya Naidu, Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, Suresh Kumar, and Basavaraj Bommai, besides office bearers of the party, Santosh and Satish.

Yeddyurappa and Anant Kumar told the meeting that the state BJP needs the leadership of a experienced and veteran leader and that Eshwarappa fits the bill very well.
Unlike several other ministers who have failed to vacate their residences after losing positions, even long after the two-month period they are entitled to has expired, Eshwarappa vacated his official bungalow in Kumara Kripa here, on Sunday, after it became clear that he would become the state president of the BJP.
