Mangalore, Jan 23: A joint release issued by Dakshina Kannada Bus Owners Association and Canara Bus Owners Association said that the people interested in participating in the Hindu Yuva Samavesha (Hindu Youth Convention) being held at Nehru Maidan in the city on Sunday Jaunary 24, will be provided with free travel facility. The students who will take part in the Bhagawadgita Abhiyan being held on January 25, will also get free transport facility, they said.
MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, has requested the people from all classes of the society to extend wholehearted support for the above convention. District deputy commissioner, V Ponnuraj, has ordered for the closure of all the liquor shops in the city from 12 midnight on January 23 to 6 am on January 25, as a law and order maintenance measure.
District police sources said that 511 additional policemen, in addition to the district police, will be deployed in the city on Sunday. “They will be deputed from Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Chikmagalur, Kodagu, Hassan, Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Ramanagar and Kolar district. Some of them have already arrived. Police contingents have been deployed at strategic points.
Arrangements have been made to keep vigil all over the city during the convention to ensure that no untoward incidents occur,” said district superintendent of police, Dr A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao.
