Mumbai, May 22: In an incident, an argument erupted between a couple over purchasing diapers for their two-and-half-year old son because of which the man allegedly tried to give triple talaq to his wife, the police said. A case has been filed against the 30-year-old man.
The woman who hails from Muradabad in Uttar Pradesh is said to have complained previously in 2018 against her husband accusing him of harassment.
As per the police account, the 28-year-old woman is stated to have said, "My husband has been harassing me mentally and physically for the last couple of years. He would come home and randomly abuse me in front of my in-laws."

On Monday May 18, the woman was said to have asked her husband to purchase diapers from a nearby shop which reportedly led to a heated argument between the couple.
An officer from the Nagpada police station said, "In a fit of rage, the man allegedly divorced her by saying talaq three times."
Following the incident, a case was registered under section 4 of Muslim women (Protection of Rights of Marriage) Act, 2019, after the wife complained.
An investigation officer said that the man was not arrested yet due to the ongoing pandemic. However, the necessary investigation is being carried out and if necessary, the man would be arrested.
