Panaji, May 21: From the stamp used to signify an individual is quarantined, two men have developed a skin reaction on the area with the ink. The duo who travelled from Goa to Karwar via Polem checkpost got burns, blisters on their hands.

Director general of Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry R S Kamat has written to the district collector and superintendent of police, Karwar, alerting them of the reaction to the water-resistant ink.

Kamat's son Siddhartha and retired Lt Col Dinesh Kumar were heading to the Sea Bird naval base at Karwar and were stamped at the Karnataka border. “The ink from the quarantine stamp has caused blisters and burns on their hands. I had sent a mail to the district collector and SP Karwar with photos requesting them to take measures to ensure that this does not happen to others," said Kamat.

Reportedly, some others who were stamped at the Patradevi checkpost also complained of skin reactions suffered from the ink in the stamp. This led to the Goa government replacing ink after the complaints.

Siddhartha Kamat and his colleague Kumar work for a multinational consulting firm AECOM at the Sea Bird Naval Base and were returning to Karwar after spending the last 50 days under lockdown in Goa. “They travelled on valid travel permit and are now home quarantined till May 31 in Karwar," Kamat added.
